Extra Curricular Opportunities

Studies have shown that music, especially learning to play an instrument, has multiple benefits for students’ brains. Music not only changes the structure of the brain but provides students with authentic opportunities to listen closely to others, read a new language (music notation), build fine motor reflexes (finger position on the instruments), and – perhaps the best benefit – enjoy their own creativity. Students in grades TK through 5 are provided with a bi-weekly music class that focuses on the basics of music (rhythm, note-reading, theory, and vocals).

Students are also provided opportunities to participate in additional music classes, with the ultimate goal of participating in regularly scheduled and special liturgies at St. Pius V Church. These additional opportunities, all offered after school, include choir and handbell choir.
