Hello St Pius V Families!
Here we are at the beginning of a new school year. Over the summer, we’ve been busy at the school and the parish, getting things organized for a fabulous school year!
Obviously, one of the biggest changes has been a change in the administration. While many of the parents with junior high-aged students know me and are familiar with my background, the parents of younger students may only know me as “the junior high math teacher”, “the choir teacher”, or “the teacher who schedules the altar servers”. So, in this first blog of the school year, I’d like to briefly share some of my background and training.
I have worked in all levels of education. As a classroom teacher, I taught mathematics, music and the sciences. On the administrative side, I was a program specialist for the Los Angeles Unified School District, an assistant principal at Torrance High School, and the principal at Buena Park Junior High School.
After serving as principal at Buena Park Junior High, I took a position as the Vice-President of Educational and Strategic Planning for Tech Ed Services, a Los Angeles-based company that works with schools in the western U.S. to obtain and integrate technology throughout the curriculum. I left that position to become the principal at Our Lady of Refuge School in Long Beach, where we instituted many new programs, most notably the music, science, and summer school programs.
My Bachelor of Science degree is from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my administrative credential, and Master's and Doctorate degrees are from Pepperdine University.
I am thrilled to begin this exciting year, as we work together to bring each of our students a rich, faith-filled experience in a rigorous, yet loving, academic setting, in order to help all of us fulfill our mission of bringing Christ to the world.
I am truly blessed to be at SPV! #blessedatSPV
